Historic Environment Farm Environment Record Portal

This website allows farmers and land managers applying to the Sustainable Farming Incentive and Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier schemes to request a Historic Environment Farm Environment Record (HEFER) for their holding. 

The HEFER lists the known historic and archaeological features on a land holding and provides advice on how to protect and enhance them.  It may include information about: 

• Scheduled Monuments;
• Registered Parks and Gardens and Registered Battlefields; and
• non-designated historic and archaeological features, known as SHINE features, which have been created by your local authority Historic Environment Record (HER).

SFI customers should register to use this service and will be sent an email to confirm their registration.  Registered customers can request a SFI HEFER by entering their Single Business Identifier (SBI) and will receive an email when the SFI HEFER is available for download.

CS MT online customers should register to use this service and will be sent an email to confirm their registration.  Registered customers can request a CS HEFER by entering their Single Business Identifier (SBI) and will receive an email when the CS HEFER pack is available for download.  If your land has a Scheduled Monument, Registered Park or Garden or Registered Battlefield the CS HEFER may take up to 20 working days to arrive.

CS Higher Tier applicants should request a HEFER directly from RPA (Telephone 03000 200 301 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday).
